About

Trinity Allen (b.2003, London) is a British Caribbean artist of Jamaican heritage whose practice celebrates Black identity through contemporary portraiture. Working primarily with acrylic, she creates vibrant paintings that place Black people at the forefront, highlighting their beauty, individuality, and cultural presence. Drawing inspiration from Black culture and popular culture, her work combines bold colour palettes with expressive portraiture to celebrate representation while encouraging conversations around identity, heritage, and belonging.
Adornment is central to her practice, with jewellery, grillz, braids, and locs acting as symbols of self-expression, resilience, and cultural pride. While these hairstyles are often embraced as contemporary trends, her work acknowledges their deep historical and cultural significance, presenting them as crowns that honour ancestry and identity. By elevating Black subjects through portraiture, she creates affirming images that celebrate the richness of Black culture and the beauty found in its history, traditions, and continued evolution.
